Event Details

One of the world’s great archaeological sites, Persepolis was one of the dynastic centers of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, which ruled the Middle East from 550 to 330 B.C. An exhibit now on display at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute offers a rare glimpse of the site's splendid monuments. Exhibit curator Dr. Kiersten Neumann will present a slide lecture on the unique grandeur and historical significance of Persepolis and feature archival photographs taken by the Oriental Institute’s 1930s expedition to the site.
