Virtual Theatre Screening: The Nutcracker (The Royal Ballet)
Available anytime Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13, 2020

Enjoy the Royal Ballet’s glorious stage production of The Nutcracker with music performed by Royal Opera House Orchestra, recorded live in 2016. This program is a partnership with the Northbrook and Glenview public libraries. Registrants will be emailed the link to view the screening on the morning of December 12. Just one registration per household, please. Space is limited; if your plans change, please cancel your registration so someone else can take your place.

The seasonal classic recounts the story of young Clara and her nutcracker who comes to life. The two are transported to a magical world by Drosselmeyer, a magician. Lauren Cuthbertson and Federico Bonelli dance the exquisite Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince; Francesca Hayward and Alexander Campbell take the roles of Clara and the Nutcracker; and Gary Avis is the mysterious, kindly Drosselmeyer. This performance celebrated Peter Wright’s 90th birthday and a production that has been in The Royal Ballet’s repertory for more than 30 years. With sumptuous period designs, spellbinding stage effects, and of course Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, The Nutcracker continues to enchant audiences of all ages.

Screened via Youtube, registrants will receive an email early on December 12 with a link and viewing instructions. The link will be available to screen from December 12, 9am to December 13, 11:45pm. The performance is 119 minutes long.
