Event Details

Alice Paul was one of the lead strategists in the fight to win votes for American women. She organized events such as the Woman Suffrage Procession and the Silent Sentinels, was head of the National Woman's Party for half a century (which in 1923 drafted the Equal Rights Amendment, which has yet to be ratified), and worked to include women as a group protected against discrimination by the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Historical interpreter Leslie Goddard will take us back to the 1910s to meet Alice Paul when she was at the peak of her suffragist efforts. This program commemorates the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment.
