Event Details

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the exciting "Monet and Chicago" exhibition, on display at the Art Institute of Chicago through January 18, 2021. This slide lecture will be presented by Kathryn Kremnitzer, a research associate in European painting and sculpture at the Art Institute.

"Monet and Chicago" is the first exhibition to explore Chicago's pioneering connection to the great Impressionist artist. The Art Institute was the first American museum to give Monet a solo exhibition, the first to purchase one of his paintings, and today, with 33 paintings and 13 works on paper by the artist, holds the largest collection of works by Monet outside of Paris.

Ms. Kremnitzer joined the Art Institute staff in October 2018 and received her PhD in art history from Columbia University in May 2020. She is a contributing author to the Monet and Chicago catalogue and part of the curatorial team at work on several forthcoming nineteenth-century French painting exhibitions.
