Chicagoans have a chance to experience Camille Claudel, until February 19, 2024 at the Art Institute. As a compliment to this major exhibition, art historian Jeff Mishur’s Zoom lecture will address the work of the French sculptor (1864 – 1943), who has at last emerged from the shadow of Auguste Rodin, her famous collaborator, mentor and romantic partner. Mishur will discuss a variety of Claudel’s work, including The Waltz and The Age of Maturity, as well as her contributions to large scale Rodin commissions such as The Burghers of Calais and The Gates of Hell.
