Between 1940 and 1941, artist Jacob Lawrence produced 60 paintings on the Great Migration. Split today between the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., the paintings document an important period in American and African American history. Art historian Jeff Mishur will discuss Lawrence's migration series and other examples of his series work.
